Mike and I have been friends since we were little kids and dating for almost ten years. We had talked a lot about getting married but I was not expecting him to propose over the summer, because that is when he is busiest at work.
Every year he gets some vacation time in mid July and we get to spend time in Vail. We planned to go again this year and made arrangements. When the day came, we drove to Vail on a Monday afternoon and settled in at our favorite hotel. Mike did not seem nervous on the drive or as we prepared for dinner but he was unusually concerned about the weather and potential for rain. One of our favorite things about Vail is the many areas to walk along the Eagle River and in Vail Village, so despite the chance for rain we headed out for a walk prior to dinner. As we walked along the river, Mike was relieved that the rain had moved on and we came to a quiet spot and relaxed. We talked for a short time about nothing in particular, watched the sunset and decided to move along. As I stood and turned to walk away, Mike grabbed my hand, pulled me toward him and told me how special our relationship was to him. As he dropped to his knee and pulled out a small blue box…
… I realized that he was proposing and started laughing in excitement. I was so shocked that it was happening that I yelled “Yes!” in between laughs. The ring is an Oval solitaire set in platinum band. It was exactly what I had dreamed of. Mike and I were so happy that it made our time in Vail even more special.
I have been to Williams Jewelers several times since our engagement and Keri has been a pleasure to work with. I love getting the ring cleaned and look forward to returning with Mike to pick out our wedding bands before our wedding next winter. I am so happy that Mike chose Williams Jewelers and plan on returning there in the future.
