How we Met
“Natalie and I met at my stepsister’s wedding in May of 2014. I live in Denver, Natalie in Indianapolis (where the wedding was held), and I had never been to Indiana prior to then, but boy was I happy to be there upon walking into the rehearsal dinner and seeing the most beautiful woman in the world. Natalie and I hit it off immediately and a month later I was back visiting her.
From there, we visited each other as much as we could, sometimes flying to one another’s hometowns, other times flying to vacation/adventure destinations: an all-inclusive resort in Mexico (where we first said we loved each other on the beach); watching the ball drop in Times Square on New Year’s Eve; taking a 2,000 mile road trip and spending Valentine’s Day in Las Vegas, and most recently spending a week camping and hiking throughout Iceland. I knew Natalie was the one for me throughout our entire relationship and wanted to express this by purchasing an engagement ring through Williams Jewelers in Cherry Creek. I generally knew what type of ring Natalie would like to have and found the best one working with the store staff.
I took the ring to Iceland and since we are adventurous individuals, I thought it’d be great to propose to her after hiking to the top of the recently active Eyjafjallajökull volcano. The hike was much more physically demanding than I had originally anticipated, yet it was very much well worth getting to the top after five hours! Once there, I gave the guide and two other hikers cameras, held Natalie’s hand, dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me. I developed quite a painful cramp in my left thigh on the hike up, so Natalie probably thought twice about saying yes to this old man bending down on one knee very slowly (kidding), but fortunately she did said yes to my asking for her hand in marriage.
She moves out to Denver this September, our wedding is planned for September of 2016 and we both couldn’t be happier!”
