How we Met
Scott and I met the “old fashioned” way – via Match.com. After quickly finding many similar interests, friends in common, and the same childhood vacation spot in Michigan, our relationship moved quickly and it became clear that an engagement was in our future. There were a few times I thought Scott might propose – during a trip to Napa, a visit to his hometown in Indianapolis, and then Christmas day of 2013. Prepared with manicures each time, he kept me waiting until his perfect moment came around.
We had just spent Christmas together in Denver with my family, and then drove up to Steamboat on December 26th to spend New Year’s with Scott’s family. He was acting anxious the whole drive, speeding up I-70 to get to his family’s home. Once we arrived, Scott asked me to help him unpack. I was not interested in sorting through clothing, and was eagerly chatting with everyone. He had to strategically get me away from the family. Finally alone, Scott burst into his proposal and dropped to one knee. We were so happy and giddy that he nearly forgot about the ring in his pocket! Once placed on my finger, I couldn’t stop staring at my sparkling ring and glowing husband-to-be. We continued the engagement celebration all week with a surprise wine cellar dinner, visit from my parents, and lots of skiing.
Since Steamboat is a memorable place for us, we decided to have our wedding there as well. Scott and I exchanged vows over Labor Day weekend 2014, surrounded by friends and family who traveled from near and far to help us celebrate. Everything was perfect – from the sunny mountain weather, to the picturesque backdrop and great party.
Williams Jewelers was truly a special part of our wedding! Scott had several solo visits to Williams Jewelers, working with Dara to secretly custom design my perfect engagement ring, which were followed by various visits together to choose our wedding bands. Every time we walked into the store, we were brimming with excitement and felt like we were going to visit with old friends…while also looking at gorgeous diamonds and finding rings that will last a lifetime. Ultimately Dara designed my wedding band from sentimental family diamonds, and we chose Scott’s band from their wide selection of men’s wedding bands.
We constantly reminisce about our engagement and wedding, and have Williams to thank for their standout role in the process!
